UTRECHT AFTER DARK.
Utrecht is a smaller, more student-driven answer to Amsterdam: canals, far fewer tourists and almost no coach parties. The canals sit well below street level, and the old wharf cellars along the water now hold bars that fill up with students after dark. The city is compact and properly lived-in, so expect a classic Dutch canal-city evening without the crowds.
